Fun but frustrating
OK it looks and feels very much like Civ4 but it does add a new levels and complexity to the mix. I have to say that even at the lower levels the game resorts to extreme tactics to prevent losing to human competitors. This is not particularly helpful in learning how to avoid these confilcts and unlike any type of real life conflict, there is no way to defuse potential issues. This may represent a bias in the developers world view but it is annoying to say the least. Thanks

Great Expansion to Civilization
Great selection of new leaders and civilizations to choose from. Also, new features like the vassal state add to the depth of the game. Finally, new random events, such as discovering medicinal herbs and natural disasters, further enhance the Civ. experience. I highly recommend this expansion pack...it truly adds a lot of features to the original Civ. IV.

Best in breed for Mac games so far
I had Civ IV and the first expansion, Warlords, for some time. Running on 10.4 they both crashed. A lot. I have not had a single crash so far in BTS. Now, I did upgrade to 10.6 before playing this, so possibly that had something to do with it. Others have already reviewed the game content. I have nothing really to add to that. Just wanted to mention that this has made the game much more stable for me, in addition to being a pure joy to play. Brings back memories of Civ III.

Beyond the Sword
Best expansion pack ever!!! The higher levels are insanely difficult. Endless game possibilities with hours an entertainment!!!

CIV IV upgrade is worth the purchase
This is not just an upgrade with an addition of more leaders and units. This version of the game has all of these things ... yes. But the subtleties of gameplay have also changed. I've had to revise my strategies. This is almost like buying a whole new game.

The new art and additions are awesome. Then new scenarios are also great. Love the space exploration and the zombies.

One thing though, the new narrator just doesn't cut it. Sorry Sid. I think it is mainly that the new narrations are juxtaposed with the original Leonard Nimoy voice-overs. There aren't many who can stand up to that comparison.

I give this two thumbs up.
